Obesity is the epidemic of the century and has been on the rise in recent years. The theory of obesity, based on Dr. A. T. W. Simeon’s research, is that it is due to an abnormal functioning part of the body called the hypothalamus which is a part of the central nervous system that controls all the autonomic functions of the body, such as breathing, the heart beat, digestion, sleep and via the pituitary gland it controls the endocrine system. A person affected with this disorder will gain weight regardless of how much food intake or exercise performed. And the amount of weight gained depends on the severity of the disorder, regardless of the amount of food consumed. So the complex operation of storing fat or using it as a fuel is thought to be also controlled by the hypothalamus.
There have been different modalities for weight loss, from extreme dieting to extreme exercise, to the use of different appetite suppressant drugs to thyroid medication. In all of these cases the weight loss is temporary and will be regained, for the simple reason that none of these measures corrects the underlying disorder.
The 3 Types of Fat:
In the human body we distinguish three kinds of fats:
• The structural fat fills the gaps between various organs, support tissues and vessels;
and also provides the cushion of hard fat under the bones of the feet for walking.
• The normal fat reserve acts as the fuel upon which the body can depend on
when nutritional intake is insufficient to meet the demand.
• The abnormal fat reserve is a potential reserve of fuel, but unlike the normal reserve
it is not readily available for the body to use It is this fat that causes obesity.
When an obese person tries to lose weight by starving himself, he will first lose the normal fat reserve, then burn the structural fat and lastly his body will start on the abnormal fat reserve. That explains why the obese person usually loses the wrong fat when on a diet. They feel famished and tired and their face becomes drawn and haggard, but their belly, hips, thighs and upper arms show little improvement.
The 3 Basic Causes of Obesity:
The hypothalamus is thought to play a large role in storing and fueling the body. The hypothalamus is part of the central nervous system that controls all autonomic functions of the body, such as breathing, heart beating, digestion, sleep and more. Assuming that the hypothalamus has a limited storing capacity, there are three ways in which obesity can manifest.
(1) The inherited factor; The fat storing capacity is abnormally low from birth and so obesity starts at an early age.
(2) Other hypothalamic disorders; The lowering of the previously normal fat storing capacity secondary to hypothalamic disorder. It seems to be a general rule that when one of the many hypothalamic centers is particularly overtaxed, it tries to increase capacity at the expense of the other centers, such as in menopause.
(3) The exhaustion of the fat storage; A presumably normal fat center is suddenly called upon to deal with an enormous influx of food far in excess of momentary requirements.
In 1954 Dr. A.T.W. Simeons found a solution to make the stored body fat circulate again without people having to suffer from hunger or having to exercise too much. This solution is HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropins), a hormone found in the urine of pregnant women. Dr. Simeons found that small amounts administered daily for a short period of time (23 to 40 days) in combination with a very low calorie diet consisting of 500 calories, produces an average weight loss of 1 pound per day. The person following the protocol feels satisfied with the dietary intake of 500 calories, since the HCG helps the body to release additional calories (up to 3,500) from stored
body fat. The HCG weight loss protocol performs a metabolic recovery, where the hypothalamic fat set point in the body is reset, boosting the metabolism and increasing the person’s ability to burn fat at a much higher rate. HCG is also said to break down body fat, causing rapid weight loss, simultaneously protecting the endogenous fat and muscles which the body needs to stay healthy. In addition, HCG induced weight loss does not induce sagging and loose skin characteristic in excessive weight. Daily activities can be continued without feeling weak or tired and without feeling depressed—in fact, most report feeling strong and energetic.
